About Indian Army SSC (Technical) Recruitment 2026

The Short Service Commission (Technical) entry allows engineering graduates to serve as commissioned officers in the Indian Army. The course is conducted at Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, and leads to the rank of Lieutenant after successful completion of training.

Vacancy Details

Educational Qualification

• Candidates must possess a BE/B.Tech degree in notified engineering streams such as:
  • Civil Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Computer Science / IT
  • Electronics & Communication
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Other notified streams
• Degree must be from an AICTE / UGC-recognized Indian institution
• Final-year students may apply, provided their final semester results are declared on or before 01 October 2026

• Nationality:
  • Indian citizens
  • Citizens of Nepal
  • Candidates from specified East African countries (with eligibility certificate)
• Marital Status: Unmarried

Pay Scale & Benefits

• Stipend during training: ₹56,100 per month
• Rank on commissioning: Lieutenant
• Annual CTC: Approx. ₹17–18 lakh (including allowances)

Selection Process

The selection of candidates will be done through the following stages:

1. Online Application

5. Final Merit List & Joining Letter

For Men

• 2.4 km run – 10 min 30 sec
• Push-ups – 40
• Pull-ups – 6

For Women

• 2.4 km run – 13 min
• Push-ups – 15
• Pull-ups – 2

✔ Basic swimming knowledge is mandatory for all candidates.
