ASSEB Salary
The selected candidates for both posts will receive remuneration in the following scale:
- Pay Scale: ₹30,000/- to ₹1,10,000/- per month
- Grade Pay: ₹14,500/-
- Other Allowances: As admissible under the rules of the Assam State School Education Board.

1. Deputy Controller of Examinations
Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess:
Post Graduate Degree in Arts/Science/Commerce or equivalent degree with at least 60% marks or equivalent grade from a UGC-recognized University.
Essential Experience
Candidates must have a minimum of 7 years of teaching experience in any of the following:
Option A: As a Post Graduate Teacher in a Higher Secondary School/Senior Secondary School.
OR
Option B: As an Assistant Professor in a College/University.
OR
Option C: As a Principal/Vice Principal in a Government/Provincialized Higher Secondary School/Senior Secondary School, out of which 2 years must be in a post associated with the administration of an educational institution, such as Principal/Vice Principal of a Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary School or Head of a Department in a College/University, in the conduct of examinations.
Additional Weightage
Candidates having experience as Assistant Controller/Controller of Examinations in a University will receive an additional 5 points during the selection process.
2. Deputy Secretary (Administration)
Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess either:
Option A: Post Graduate Degree in Arts/Science/Commerce with at least 60% marks or equivalent grade from a UGC-recognized University.
OR
Option B: MBA or equivalent, preferably with specialization in Operations or HR, with at least 80% marks from a UGC-recognized University.
Essential Experience
Candidates must possess 7 years of experience in any one of the following areas:
- Teaching experience as a Post Graduate Teacher in a Higher Secondary School/Senior Secondary School.
OR
- Teaching experience as an Assistant Professor in a College or University.
OR
- Teaching experience as Principal/Vice Principal in a College having enrolment of at least 100 students in each class.
OR
- 7 years of experience in administration/human resource management in a Government or Private Sector organization having a turnover of ₹5 crore or above.
ASSEB Application Fee
Candidates have to pay the application fee according to their category.

ASSEB Selection Process
The selection process will be conducted in multiple stages:
- Shortlisting for Interview
- Document Verification
- Personal Interview
- Preparation of Final Merit List
- Appointment as per Merit List
Stage 1 – Shortlisting for Interview
All valid applications will be reviewed and points will be awarded based on educational qualifications and relevant work experience.
Based on the points obtained, the top 10 candidates for each post will be shortlisted for document verification and interview.
Educational Qualification Points
Points will be awarded based on marks secured in 10th, 12th, Graduation and Post Graduation.

Important Percentage Rule
Candidates must provide their marks in percentage format.
If marks are provided in CGPA, candidates must convert the CGPA into percentage according to the prescribed rules of the concerned Board/University/Institution.
The percentage must be rounded off to the nearest integer:
- 85.5% → 86%
- 85.4% → 85%
Experience-Based Points
Candidates with relevant work experience in Government or Government Undertaking educational institutions may receive additional points, up to a maximum of 5 points.

Candidates whose documents are found to be correct and who meet the required qualifications will be allowed to appear for the personal interview.
The interview will carry a maximum of 30 points.
Final Merit List
The overall selection score will be calculated based on:
- Educational qualification points
- Relevant experience points
- Personal interview marks
A final merit list will then be prepared.
Appointments will be offered according to the final merit list.
