About Recruitment
Gauhati High Court is inviting online applications from eligible Indian citizens for engagement as Law Clerks at its Principal Seat. The appointment is purely temporary, initially for 2 years, extendable by 1 year.

Educational Qualification
- Graduate / Post Graduate in Law or Doctorate in Law from a recognized university
- Preference will be given to:
- Candidates practicing at the Bar
- Candidates with professional/legal experience or publications
Must have a valid Employment Exchange Registration in Assam.

Selection Process
Stage-I: Written Examination (120 Marks)
- English – 30 marks
- General Knowledge – 10 marks
- General Aptitude – 10 marks
- Law – 50 marks
- Assamese Language – 20 marks
Minimum 40% required in Assamese section (qualifying only)
Stage-II: Interview / Viva-Voce (30 Marks)
- Candidates shortlisted in 1:3 ratio
- Minimum 60% (18 marks) required to qualify
Final Merit
- Based on Written Exam + Interview marks
- Tie-breaking:
- Higher written marks
- Senior in age
