For Physiology, candidates should have MD (Physiology) / MSc (Medical Physiology) with PhD in Medical Physiology.

Super Speciality

For Medical Super Specialities such as Cardiology, Neurology, Endocrinology, Nephrology and Medical Oncology, candidates should possess MD/DNB in General Medicine.

For Surgical Super Specialities such as Plastic Surgery, CTVS, Neuro-Surgery, Urology and Paediatric Surgery, candidates should possess a postgraduate qualification in General Surgery.

Candidates having DM/M.Ch./DNB in the concerned super speciality subject will be given preference/weightage.

Age Limit

Candidates should be:

• Minimum Age: 21 years
• Maximum Age: 45 years

The age will be calculated as on 01 January 2026, irrespective of the category of applicants.

Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates are eligible for 10 years of upper-age relaxation, irrespective of SC/ST/OBC and General category.

Application Fee

Candidates have to pay the application fee according to their category:

The fee is non-refundable.

The application fee can be deposited through Treasury Challan under the Head of Account:

The Medical and Health Recruitment Board (MHRB), Assam has invited online applications from eligible Indian citizens for 560 posts of Medical & Health Officer-I (M&HO-I) or equivalent ranks under the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Assam.

The online application process will be available from 7 September 2026, and the last date to submit the application is 20 September 2026.

M&HO-I Assam Jobs 2026 – Overview

Assam M&HO-I Vacancy 2026

A total of 560 vacancies are available for Medical & Health Officer-I or equivalent ranks.

The vacancy distribution, including reservation and women reservation, is as follows:

The notification states that the vacancies include backlog vacancies and that the number of posts, including reserved vacancies, may vary according to requirements. Any such change will be intimated before the interview/examination.

PwBD Reservation

Assam M&HO-I Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfil the prescribed educational and age requirements.

Educational Qualification

The minimum educational qualification is:

• MBBS Degree from a recognised university.
• The candidate must be registered under the Assam Medical Council.

Candidates who do not possess the prescribed qualification and registration should not apply.

Age Limit

The candidate should be:

• Minimum Age: 21 years
• Maximum Age: 38 years

The age will be calculated as on 1 January 2026.

The upper age limit is relaxable for reserved-category candidates as per the existing Government rules.
