The Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam has officially announced the National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) Examination 2025 under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme for the academic session 2025–2026. This scholarship aims to support meritorious but economically disadvantaged students studying in government and provincialized schools from Class IX to XII.

Eligibility Criteria
Students must meet the following conditions to be eligible:
- Class: Currently studying in Class VIII in Government, Local Body, or Government-aided schools.
- Marks Required:
- Minimum 55% in Class VII (Relaxable by 5% for SC/ST students).
- To continue receiving the scholarship:
- Class IX & XI: 55% marks
- Class X: 60% marks (Relaxable by 5% for SC/ST)
- Parental Income: Must not exceed ₹3,50,000 per annum.
- School Type: Must be a regular student in a Government or provincialized school.
Not Eligible:
- Students from private schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, and residential schools run by the state.

Selection Process
The selection will be done through a national-level written test, which includes:

- Must pass both MAT and SAT with at least 40% marks in total (32% for SC/ST).
- Must have scored minimum 55% in Class VIII (50% for SC/ST).
