The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam has announced the 1st Round of Online Counselling for admission into 1st Year MBBS/BDS courses in the Government Medical and Dental Colleges of Assam for the academic session 2026.
Candidates who have qualified in NEET-UG 2026 conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and fulfil the eligibility conditions under the Medical Colleges and Dental Colleges of Assam (Regulation of Admission into 1st Year MBBS/BDS Courses) Rules, 2017, as amended up to 2026, can participate in the counselling process for State Quota seats.
The online registration will be available from 13 August 2026 to 15 August 2026 up to 11:55 PM through the official DME Assam website.

Who Can Participate?
Candidates who have qualified NEET-UG 2026 and are eligible under the Assam MBBS/BDS admission rules can participate in the 1st round of online counselling for State Quota seats.

Important Rule for OBC/MOBC Candidates
Candidates belonging to the OBC/MOBC creamy layer must apply under the General category.
Eligible candidates from all applicable categories must participate in the online counselling process by completing registration and filling their choices.
No Offline Counselling
The Directorate of Medical Education, Assam has clarified that no separate offline counselling will be conducted for these State Quota seats.
Therefore, eligible candidates must complete the online registration and choice-filling process within the prescribed dates.
Choice Filling
After successful registration, candidates will be able to fill their preferred choices of MBBS and BDS courses/colleges during the following period:
16 August 2026 to 18 August 2026 up to 10:00 PM
Candidates should carefully arrange their choices according to their preferred college, course and other applicable considerations.
Choice Locking
Online choice locking will be available on:
18 August 2026 from 5:00 PM to 11:55 PM
Candidates are advised to lock their choices within the prescribed time.
If a candidate does not lock the choices manually, the choices will be automatically locked after the prescribed deadline, as stated in the notice.
Seat Allotment
The processing of seat allotment for the 1st round will be carried out from:
19 August 2026 to 21 August 2026
After processing the counselling data, the list of provisionally selected candidates, along with the modalities for admission, will be published on the official website.
