The salary depends on the position.

The Deputy Director General (Agricultural Engineering) post carries a fixed remuneration of Rs. 2,10,000 per month. The Director post at ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute carries Rs. 2,10,000 fixed + Rs. 11,250 Special Allowance.
Several Assistant Director General and Joint Director positions carry Research Level-14, with a pay range of Rs. 1,44,200 to Rs. 2,18,200, with rationalized entry pay of Rs. 1,44,200.

ASRB Eligibility Criteria 2026
The eligibility requirements differ from post to post. These are senior-level scientific and academic positions, and candidates must satisfy the specific educational qualification and experience prescribed against the relevant post.
Educational Qualification
For example, the Deputy Director General (Agricultural Engineering) post requires a Doctoral Degree in any branch of Agricultural Engineering, or a Doctoral Degree in any branch of Engineering along with at least 15 years of post-PhD research experience in Agricultural Engineering.
For several Assistant Director General positions, a relevant doctoral degree along with substantial post-PhD experience is prescribed. For example, the ADG (Information & Communication Technology) post requires a doctoral degree in Information Technology, Communication Technology or Computer Science, or a relevant Agricultural Sciences doctorate with at least 10 years of post-PhD work experience in the relevant field.

Experience Required
The experience requirement also varies according to the position.
For several Assistant Director General and Joint Director positions, candidates are required to have at least 5 years’ experience as Principal Scientist/Professor or in an equivalent position in Pay Level-14, subject to the alternative eligibility provisions mentioned in the notification.
For certain senior Director/DDG positions, the notification prescribes more extensive experience, including experience in Research Management Positions, leadership positions, scientific posts at higher pay levels or specified international research organizations.
