Educational Qualification & Eligibility
For General Duty Medical Officer:
- MBBS degree from an institute recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
- Must have valid registration with MCI or any State Medical Council.
- Completion of one-year compulsory rotatory internship is mandatory.
For Specialist CMP:
- MBBS with Postgraduate Degree/Diploma in the concerned specialty.
- Valid registration with MCI or State Medical Council.
Age Limit
- Maximum Age: 60 years as on 01.11.2025.
- Age Relaxation: As per government rules for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
- For Retired Doctors: Retired Railway, State Government, or Central Government doctors who are physically fit up to 65 years may also apply.

💡 Note: If Railway accommodation is provided, an amount equivalent to HRA and license fee will be deducted from the monthly remuneration.
Tenure of Engagement
- Appointment will be on a full-time contract basis for one year or until replaced by UPSC-selected doctors, whichever is earlier.
- Engagement may be extended based on administrative requirements and performance.
- Retired Railway and Government doctors can be engaged up to 20 terms (till age 65), subject to Railway Board’s guidelines.
Selection Process
- Mode of Selection: Walk-in Interview
- Candidates must carry original certificates, attested photocopies, and two passport-size photographs.
- EWS candidates must produce a valid Income & Asset Certificate as per DoPT guidelines (Annexure-I, dated 31st January 2019).
