The Directorate of Historical and Antiquarian Studies (DHAS), Assam has released an official notification for the recruitment of 54 temporary posts under the Assam Manuscripts Mission on a contractual basis. Interested and eligible candidates are invited to appear in a walk-in-interview scheduled for 21st November 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Supervisor

  • Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in History, Archaeology, Anthropology, Sanskrit, Assamese, Geography, Museology, or related subjects.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in field research, heritage documentation, or cultural project coordination.
  • Preference: Master’s Degree holders.

2. Documentation & Conservation Expert

  • Qualification: Master’s Degree in History, Sanskrit, Archaeology, Library & Information Science, Museology, Archival Studies, or Chemistry.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in manuscript documentation, archival work, or cultural heritage projects.
  • Desirable: Ability to read old Assamese, Sanskrit, or Tai-Ahom scripts.

3. Field Investigator

  • Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in History, Sanskrit, Assamese, Anthropology, Archaeology, or Folklore.
  • Preference: Candidates with fieldwork experience in cultural documentation or community-based research.
  • Other Requirement: Willingness to travel extensively across rural and remote areas.

4. Photographer

  • Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Photography, Videography, Media Production, Visual Communication, or related field.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of professional experience in photography/videography (preferably cultural or academic projects).
  • Skills: DSLR operation, lighting setup, audio equipment, and editing software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Premiere Pro).

5. Assistant Conservator / Preservator

  • Qualification: Master’s or Diploma in Conservation, Preservation, Museology, Heritage Studies, Chemistry, Material Science, or Library Science (specialization in conservation/preservation).
  • Experience: 1–3 years in conservation/preservation of manuscripts, documents, or artworks.
  • Preference: Experience with palm-leaf manuscripts, sanchipat, or indigenous materials.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 21 years
  • Maximum Age: 60 years (as on 01.01.2025)
