The Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Guwahati has officially released the GATE 2026 Notification for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). This national-level exam is conducted for admissions to postgraduate programs (M.Tech, M.E., Ph.D.) and for recruitment in various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

GATE 2026 will be conducted on February 07th, 08th, 14th, and 15th, 2026 in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across multiple centers in India.

What is GATE?

GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is organized jointly by IISc and the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India.

Qualifying in GATE 2026 is essential for:

Admission to Master’s and Doctoral programs in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, and Science.
Eligibility for scholarships and financial assistance.
Recruitment in PSUs such as BHEL, GAIL, IOCL, ONGC, NTPC, PGCIL, HAL, and others.
Direct recruitment to Group A posts in the Central Government, such as Senior Field Officer, Senior Research Officer, etc.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:
- Candidates in the 3rd year or higher of an undergraduate program OR
- Candidates who have completed a degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts/Humanities from a government-recognized institution.
Age Limit: There is no age limit for appearing in GATE 2026.
