About the Recruitment

The Indian Coast Guard, an Armed Force of the Union, is recruiting enrolled personnel through the Coast Guard Enrolled Personnel Test (CGEPT). Candidates from Class 10, Class 12 and Diploma backgrounds can apply for different posts, subject to the eligibility given below.

The recruitment is held in two batches, 01/2027 and 02/2027. The first stage Computer Based Examination is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission.

Educational Qualification

  • Navik (General Duty): Class 12th passed with Maths and Physics from an education board recognised by COBSE.
  • Navik (Domestic Branch): Class 10th passed from an education board recognised by COBSE.
  • Hygienist-I: Matriculation OR ITI or equivalent from a Board of Education recognised by the Central/State Government.
  • Yantrik: Class 10th passed from an education board recognised by COBSE AND a 3 or 4 years Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics/Telecommunication (Radio/Power) Engineering approved by AICTE. OR Class 10th and Class 12th passed from a COBSE recognised board AND a 2 or 3 years Diploma in the same disciplines approved by AICTE.

Age Relaxation: OBC (NCL) candidates get 3 years and SC/ST candidates get 5 years of relaxation.

Selection Process

The selection is held in four stages. Candidates must qualify at each stage to move ahead.

  1. Stage-I: Computer Based Examination (CBE) – 100 multiple choice questions, 100 marks, 1 hour, in Hindi and English. There is no negative marking. Qualifying marks are 40 for UR/EWS/OBC and 35 for SC/ST candidates.
  2. Stage-II: ICG Recruitment Centre – Identity and biometric verification, Physical Fitness Test (1.6 km run, squats, push-ups and bent-knee sit-ups), Assessment & Adaptability Test (qualifying) and document verification. Candidates should be ready to stay 1 to 2 days at the centre.
  3. Stage-III: Training Base at INS Chilka – Identity check including Aadhaar based verification, original document verification and Pre-Enrolment Medical Examination.
  4. Stage-IV: Final Document Verification & Authentication – Detailed verification of original educational, identity and category certificates.

Final selection depends on performance, eligibility, medical standards and the number of vacancies.
