About Gauhati University Recruitment 2026

Applications are invited for temporary project positions under an environmental monitoring project related to the construction of the 4-Lane Extra Dosed PSC Bridge over River Brahmaputra connecting Patashbari and Sualkuchi, Assam. The project focuses on monitoring Ganges River Dolphins, migratory birds, turtles, fishes, aquatic habitats, and conservation awareness in the project area.

Candidates selected for Senior Project Associate and Project Associate (GIS) positions will be eligible to enroll for a Ph.D. under the Centre for Brahmaputra Studies, Gauhati University.

Vacancy Details

1. Senior Project Associate

No. of Posts: 01
Salary: ₹1,25,000/- per month
Duration: 3 years (extendable up to 1 additional year)

Eligibility

Postgraduate in Life Science, Natural Science, Geography, or related discipline.
Experience in Ganges River Dolphin monitoring in the Brahmaputra River for construction-related projects.
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Senior Project Associate in similar third-party bridge construction monitoring projects.
Must be NET Qualified.

2. Project Associate (GIS)

No. of Posts: 01
Salary: ₹50,000/- per month

Eligibility

Postgraduate in Life Science, Natural Science, Geography, or related discipline.
Experience in GIS work and habitat mapping.
Experience in similar bridge construction monitoring projects.

3. Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

No. of Posts: 02
Salary:
- ₹35,000/- per month (1st Year)
- ₹40,000/- per month (2nd & 3rd Year)

Eligibility

Postgraduate in Life Science, Natural Science, Geography, or related discipline.
Experience in similar bridge construction projects.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Postgraduate Degree in any of the following disciplines:

Life Science
Natural Science
Geography
Related Subjects
