Indian Oil Executive Posts and Qualifications

1. Graduate Engineer – Grade A

Candidates applying for Graduate Engineer positions must possess a full-time regular B.Tech./B.E./equivalent degree from an institution recognized by AICTE/UGC.

The major eligible engineering domains include:

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Mechanical Engineering

For most Graduate Engineer disciplines, candidates from General/EWS/OBC(NCL) categories must have at least 65% marks, while SC/ST/PwBD candidates require at least 55% marks.

The notification also specifies several eligible equivalent disciplines under the different engineering domains. For example, Computer Science candidates may qualify through disciplines including Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Data Science and related listed disciplines.

2. Officer (Marketing) – Grade A

Candidates for the Marketing Officer position must possess a two-year full-time regular MBA or Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration equivalent to MBA as per AIU, with specialization in Marketing.

The minimum marks requirement is:

  • General/EWS/OBC(NCL): 60%
  • SC/ST/PwBD: 55%

The Marketing specialization should be mentioned in the final degree certificate or supported by an appropriate certificate.

3. Officer (Law) – Grade A

For the Law Officer position, candidates must have either:

  • A Graduate Degree in any discipline along with an LLB degree, or
  • A five-year integrated LLB degree.

The minimum marks requirement is 60% for General/EWS/OBC(NCL) candidates and 55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates. The LLB degree must be recognized by the Bar Council of India.

Law Officers must also have a minimum of 2 years of post-qualification professional experience as on 30 June 2026. Eligible experience may include legal practice before courts or tribunals, work in law firms, legal functions in private/public sector organizations or legal functions in Central/State Government organizations.

4. Assistant Quality Control Officer – Grade A0

Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Chemistry or one of the specifically listed Chemistry branches.

5. Diploma Engineer – Grade E0

Diploma Engineer positions are available for candidates with a three-year full-time Diploma in Engineering from a recognized institution, university or State Board.

For the Safety discipline, candidates must additionally possess a Diploma in Industrial Safety of at least one year from a recognized institution/authority. The notification specifically states that PwBD candidates are not eligible for this particular post because of the hazardous nature and critical safety-related job functions.

Important Qualification Conditions

Candidates should carefully check their exact degree/diploma discipline before applying. IndianOil has stated that qualifications obtained through part-time, correspondence, distance or online learning modes are not eligible for the prescribed qualifying qualifications.

Candidates applying for Graduate Engineer positions through integrated or dual-degree courses must satisfy the conditions regarding completion of BE/B.Tech and ME/M.Tech and the required final marksheets/degrees by 30 September 2026. Candidates with combined/interdisciplinary graduation disciplines such as Mechatronics or Robotics are not eligible under the stated criteria.

For Grade E0 Diploma Engineer positions, candidates possessing professional higher qualifications such as BE, B.Tech, MBA, CA, CS, CMA, MCA or Ph.D. are not eligible.

Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwBD categories are exempted from payment of the application fee.
